Fostering the penetration of renewable energy means contributing to decarbonization and the energy transition. In this context, grids have a fundamental role to play because of their ability to manage an increasing number of renewable energy plants spread throughout the country, and therefore the possibility to develop the bidirectional distribution system in a more efficient way.
A digitalized, resilient and sustainable grid means a grid that facilitates the participation of customers, by actively involving them in the energy market and enabling them to be prosumers – i.e., customers with their own energy production system (for example, photovoltaic), who not only satisfy their own energy needs but also supply their surplus energy to the grid to distribute the energy produced from renewable sources more efficiently.
